Wednesday 11th September 2013

Another day and another rarity avoids the regulars, at least this time it was a flyover. Two fortunate observers had a White Stork 'fly in from the sea and cross directly over the mouth of the Exe into the estuary;it continued flying at a leisurely pace up the estuary but gaining height all the time, and by the time it had reached Lympstone Camp appeared to be turning inland.' This is the third Warren record, the first was also in September, back in 1980. The only other records received were of 16 Sanderling along the beach and from Cockwood on the rising tide, the Slavonian Grebe, 155+ Redshank, 60 Dunlin and an adult Mediterranean Gull.
