Saturday 3rd June

Wader numbers are on the increase with some still heading north and others already undertaking post (failed) breeding movement. Counts included 51 Bar-tailed Godwit, 48 Sanderling, 35 Curlew, 25 Dunlin, seven Grey Plover and two Whimbrel. Other records included 1735 Herring Gull offshore, many taking advantage of the sand coming ashore as part of the beach recharge, the Slavonian Grebe off Cockwood and a first summer Mediterranean Gull.

Wildlife News: A new population of 14 Pyramidal Orchid were discovered on Warren Point, with eight spikes of Bee Orchid still flowering near the Dune Pond. The first Emperor dragonfly of the year was on the wing along with two Painted Lady and a Red Admiral.
