Tuesday 27th October

A Firecrest around the Entrance Bushes had earlier been seen on the ground fighting with a Goldcrest, both ignoring the observer and having to be separated.

Ringing News: The first two DCWRG Exe ringed Dunlin were back for the winter.

Other Wildlife: Good numbers of Common Darter still around the ponds, plus a couple of Migrant Hawker in sheltered areas. Little else on the wing apart from single Peacock and Small Copper, the latter on Sea Rocket. Also, on Sea Rocket several late Ivy Bee, switching to this nectar source as flowering Ivy goes over.

At ground level a Common Springtail-stalker Notiophilus biguttatus and a few rove beetles including Tasgius ater and a tiny Aleochara bipunctatus.
