Wednesday 31st July

There was not much to report on the neap high tide with 61 Sandwich Tern, five Dunlin and single Bar and Black-tailed Godwit in the Bight. Elsewhere a singing Willow Warbler in Dead Dolphin Wood was the only notable migrant.

Other Wildlife: A White-spotted Digger-wasp Harpactus tumidus was running about on bare ground on the path by the viewing platform. It stopped briefly to dig a hole, so is probably nesting there. Other Hymenoptera for the year were Alder Sawfly Eriocampa ovata and, on Hemp Agrimony by the station, a Tree Bumblebee.
