Friday 29th December

An 1.25 hour seawatch early morning saw 67 Gannet, 59 Kittiwake, 22 Common Scoter and a Fulmar head SW, with three Pintail (♂♂♀) fly SE. Also offshore 11 Great Crested Grebe, seven Great Northern Diver, four Eider and three Common Scoter.

Counts from the estuary included 267 Wigeon, 180 Teal, 141 Common and four adult Mediterranean Gull, 136 Redshank, 114 Dark-bellied Brent Geese, 75 Shelduck, 58 Turnstone, 30 Ringed Plover, five Great Crested Grebe, four Greenshank, three Red-breasted Merganser (♂♂♀) and a Black-tailed Godwit.

Elsewhere the Cetti's Warbler, last recorded on 2nd Dec, was occasionally calling as it foraged through brambles along Back Path, five Chiffchaff and two Goldcrest were in the bushes and three Shoveler (♂♂♀) were on the Main Pond.

Other Wildlife: The Grey Squirrel remains in the Entrance Bushes.
