Sunday 15th June

The first Nuthatch of the year paused briefly in the Wryneck Plain as it moved through the site mid morning, an increasing post breeding occurrence, the ninth June record in the last 20 years.

The first fledged Whitethroat were also in the Wryneck Plain with 50+ Swift hawking low over site before 7am, lifting with the temperatures.

Elsewhere at least 20 Mediterranean Gull, six Sandwich and three Common Tern and two Common Scoter were offshore with four Bar-tailed Godwit, three Whimbrel and two Grey Plover in the estuary.

Other Wildlife: The first three Common Darter of the year were at the Main Pond, with a Marbled White also on the wing. Migrant insects included the hoverfly White-clubbed Glasswing Scaeva pyrastri and five species of ladybird along the seawall.
