Sunday 4th May

A male Redstart watched arriving over the sea before continuing north was as close as it got to a grounded migrant, with 28 Swallow, four Swift, a House Martin and a Buzzard overhead.  

Also from the seawall four Great Northern Diver, three Mediterranean Gull, three Sandwich Tern, two Manx Shearwater, the immature Eider and a Fulmar with a Common Sandpiper at Langstone Rock.

Over high tide 46 Whimbrel17 Sanderling and nine Dunlin were split between the beach and The Bight.

Other Wildlife: Several Fruitlet Mining Tortrix Pammene rhediellaa new species for the Recording Area, were on Langstone Rock. A Common Lizard was basking yards from the fairground entrance and a Painted Lady, the first of the year, was along the seawall.

Late news of another new moth on Saturday, a Burnet Companion in Greenland Lake.
